10speed.au is a supplier of specialist motorsport, competition and off-road (“race”) conversion parts, including 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission conversion packages, wiring harnesses, transmission control units (TCUs), gearboxes and torque converters.

These are considered race use parts. They are supplied for motorsport, competition, off-road and experimental use, and are not ordinary consumer goods.

Please read this policy in full BEFORE purchasing. If anything is unclear, ask us in writing what is and is not covered BEFORE you pay — we will reply with explicit answers.

1. Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

For major failures with a service, you are entitled to cancel your service contract with us and to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.

You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.

If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done, you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.

You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

The warranties in this policy are voluntary warranties against defects. They are provided in addition to your ACL rights and do not limit, exclude or modify them.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where the ACL permits, our liability for goods not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use is limited, at our option, to:

  • Replacement or repair of the goods;
  • Resupply of equivalent goods; or
  • Payment of the cost of doing so.

2. What We Supply

  • 10R80 conversion packages (standard: refurbished gearbox; optional: new Ford-delivered gearbox)
  • Wiring harnesses (new)
  • Transmission control units (TCUs) (new)
  • Torque converters (new or used, see Section 5)
  • Associated fittings, adapters and race parts

All conversion packages are custom items, built or configured to order.

3. Warranty Summary

Item Warranty
Refurbished 10R80 gearbox (standard package) “Turn-Key & Drive” only (Section 4) — no ongoing warranty period
New Ford-delivered 10R80 gearbox (optional upgrade) 10,000 km or 6 months from handover/dispatch, whichever comes first (Section 4)
New wiring harnesses, TCUs and other new parts 12 months from date of purchase (Section 6)
Torque converters Not covered, except new converters with logging enabled (Section 5)
Used, refurbished or customer-supplied ancillary parts No warranty unless stated in writing

All warranties are subject to the conditions and exclusions in Sections 7–9 and to your non-excludable ACL rights (Section 1).

4. Gearbox Warranty

4.1 Refurbished 10R80 — “Turn-Key & Drive” Policy

The standard 10R80 conversion uses a refurbished gearbox.

Our sole voluntary warranty on a refurbished gearbox is that, at the time of handover (or completion of installation by us, where we install), the transmission will:

  • Start;
  • Engage gears; and
  • Drive.

Any issue with a refurbished gearbox must be raised at handover or within 48 hours of first drive, whichever is earlier.

Once the vehicle has been driven away and accepted, or the goods have been collected/delivered and installed, no further voluntary warranty applies to the refurbished gearbox.

Beyond this, refurbished gearboxes are supplied on an as-is basis to the maximum extent permitted by law.

4.2 New Ford-Delivered 10R80

Where you elect (and pay for) a new gearbox delivered from Ford, we provide a voluntary warranty of 10,000 km or 6 months from handover or dispatch, whichever comes first, covering internal mechanical defects in the gearbox, subject to Sections 7–9.

Odometer/log evidence of kilometres travelled since installation is required for any claim.

5. Torque Converters — Strict No-Warranty Policy

Torque converters are wear and heat-critical race components.

Torque converters carry NO warranty of any kind, except where ALL of the following are met:

  1. The converter was supplied by us new.
  2. Data logging was enabled and active on the gearbox/TCU at all times from installation onward.
  3. Complete logs are produced to us on request with no missing information.

Any recorded or evident over-temperature event voids all warranty on the torque converter and on the gearbox.

“Over-temperature” means transmission fluid temperature exceeding the limit we specify for your setup, as stated on your invoice or supplied documentation. If not stated, ask us before use.

Inability or refusal to produce logs is treated as an over-temperature event.

Used, refurbished or customer-supplied converters are never covered.

6. New Parts — 12-Month Warranty

New wiring harnesses, TCUs and other new parts supplied by us carry a voluntary 12-month warranty from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship, subject to Sections 7–9.

This warranty covers repair or replacement of the defective part, at our option.

It does not cover:

  • Labour;
  • Removal/refit;
  • Freight;
  • Fluids;
  • Tuning time; or
  • Any consequential costs,

except as required by the ACL.

7. Installation — Who Carries the Risk

7.1 Installation by a Third-Party Installer

Where any part we supply is installed by a workshop, mechanic, tuner or other third-party installer:

  • Our warranty is limited to the supplied part itself. Installation workmanship, wiring integration, fluid filling, adaptation, calibration, road testing and all consequences of installation are the installer’s responsibility, and any claim arising from installation must be directed to the installer.
  • It is your duty to satisfy yourself that your installer is competent and fit-for-purpose, and to check with us BEFORE purchase whether your installer/tuner is recommended, qualified and authorised to work with our products. Failure to check with us beforehand may result in a claim being declined; coverage will then be determined solely by our inspection of the part.
  • Any defect caused or contributed to by incorrect installation, incorrect fluid or fluid level, incorrect torque converter fitment, wiring errors, incorrect configuration or tuning, or failure to follow our written instructions is excluded from all warranties.

7.2 DIY Installation

Parts installed by the customer or any unqualified person carry no voluntary warranty, except at our absolute discretion.

If you undertake a DIY install and wish to preserve any possibility of a discretionary warranty decision, you must keep clear photographic and, where relevant, video/log evidence of every stage of the installation, including:

  • Converter engagement;
  • Fluid fill and level procedure;
  • Wiring connections; and
  • First start.

You must produce this evidence on request.

We may, after reviewing that evidence, elect to warrant a part in whole or in part. Our decision is final.

Your ACL rights (Section 1) are unaffected.

8. Conditions Applying to All Warranties

Logging

Where a TCU with logging capability is supplied, logging must remain enabled.

Claims on gearboxes and torque converters will not be assessed without logs.

Over-Temperature

Any over-temperature event voids warranty on the gearbox and torque converter (Section 5).

Race/Competition Use

Parts used in competition are used at the owner’s risk.

Damage arising from racing, launching, drag use, abuse, overloading, towing beyond rated capacity or accident is not covered.

No Tampering

Warranty is void if a gearbox or TCU is opened, disassembled, modified or repaired by anyone other than us or our authorised agent.

Correct Use

Warranty is void where:

  • Non-specified fluids are used;
  • Service intervals are missed;
  • Our fitting/configuration instructions are not followed; or
  • The part is used with modified electrical harnesses or original harnesses over 20 years old against our recommendations.

Software/Firmware

It is your (and your tuner’s) responsibility to check with us for updated configurations or firmware.

Failure to apply updates that we advise are warranty-critical may void warranty.

Compliance

You are solely responsible for ensuring the conversion is lawful for your intended use, including any engineering certification required for road registration in your state or territory.

Our race parts are supplied without any representation that they are road-legal.

9. Warranty Claims Procedure

  1. Contact us in writing (email preferred) before returning anything. Describe the fault and supply logs, photos and installer details.
  2. If we approve return for assessment, we will issue a return authorisation. Returns without authorisation may be refused.
  3. Freight to us is at your cost. If the claim is accepted, we will repair or replace the part (at our option) and cover return freight within Australia. Where the ACL requires a refund or other remedy, we will comply.
  4. If the claim is declined, any repair, return freight or disposal is at your cost at our quoted rates.

10. Deposits and Cancellations

  • If we cancel your order or cannot supply, your deposit is refundable in full.
  • If you cancel, your deposit is refundable only if you cancel in writing within 14 days of paying the deposit. After 14 days, the deposit is forfeited and retained by us as a genuine pre-estimate of costs we incur in sourcing stock, reserving refurbishment/build capacity and scheduling your order — except to the extent the ACL or other law requires otherwise.
  • Deposits secure custom-order goods and a build slot; they are not savings held on account.

11. Returns — Non-Warranty

Conversion Packages, Custom, Configured and Used Items

No change-of-mind returns.

Custom items can only be further modified, with no warranty on modifications.

New, Unused, Uninstalled Parts

New, unused and uninstalled parts, such as harnesses and TCUs that are still sealed/unflashed:

  • Are returnable within 45 days for a refund excluding shipping;
  • Returns after 45 days may incur a 10% restocking fee and transfer fees;
  • Minimum refund of 50% within 6 months;
  • Returns beyond 6 months are at our discretion and may be rejected.

Items returned damaged, scratched, flashed, coded to a vehicle or altered may incur additional deductions.

All shipping costs are non-refundable.

12. Shipping, Invoices and Fees

Shipping

Goods are shipped with basic carrier insurance only, typically $50–$100 within Australia.

It is your responsibility to request FULL insurance by email BEFORE dispatch.

We do not replace or refund lost or damaged freight beyond carrier coverage unless agreed by email prior to shipment. We will assist with any reasonable claim.

Invoices

Invoices are valid for 14 days.

Pricing may change after expiry.

Instalment arrangements are valid only if agreed in writing.

Labour, Inspection and Support

Labour, inspection, remote support, tuning and training are charged at our published rates (see boostec.com.au fee schedule) unless quoted otherwise.

Support and training hours are non-refundable.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss of any kind, including:

  • Vehicle downtime;
  • Towing;
  • Recovery;
  • Hire vehicles;
  • Labour;
  • Dyno time;
  • Fluids;
  • Event entry fees;
  • Loss of income; or
  • Loss of opportunity.

Where liability cannot be excluded, and where the ACL permits, it is limited at our option to:

  • Repairing or replacing the goods;
  • Supplying equivalent goods; or
  • Paying the cost of doing so.

14. Ask BEFORE You Purchase

If you are unsure whether something is covered — your gearbox option, your converter, your installer or your intended use — email us before you pay and we will confirm in writing exactly what is and is not covered for your setup.

What we confirm in writing forms part of your agreement.

If you do not ask, this policy applies as written.

15. General

This policy is governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

If any part of this policy is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in force.

We may update this policy from time to time. The version published at 10speed.au at the date of your order applies to that order.
